Lone Star Students Parent Update

Hello Parent(s),

Lindsey and I are so thankful for the opportunity to serve your student(s) on a weekly basis. We do not take this responsibility lightly. We have thoroughly enjoyed these last 6 months while serving at Lone Star Cowboy Church, and believe the future is bright.

We wanted to give a quick disclaimer on what we will be discussing during the month of February. As all of you know, students are growing up in a generation where sexual conduct is no longer an act kept sacred for marriage.

Starting February 1st, we will be starting a teaching series titled “Sexy and I know it.” The thought process for us is this; most students know that sex before marriage is wrong, but they continue to make the same mistakes; Hints the title “Sexy and I KNOW it.”

During this series we will be tackling tough and somewhat controversial issues. We will be covering topics such as dating, sexual purity, pornography, and homosexuality. These are issues that students deal with on a daily basis, and we want to enlighten the students on what the bible says about these issues.

With all of that said, if you are concerned or have ANY questions please do not hesitate to call us at the Church at 936-597-5742, or you can email us at derrickd@lonestar.tv

Fatherly love

My wife, Lindsey and I became the proud parents of our son Daelen in May this year. Though it has been a whirlwind, we have also thoroughly enjoyed the joys and struggles of being parents. Becoming a parent for the first time is one of those few experiences you can not describe with words. I never imagined I could love someone so much, without even knowing them at first. I know most parents feel this way, but I will do ANYTHING for our son.

As we begin this parenting journey, I was reminded of a great passage of scripture found in Matthew 7:9-11:

"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"

God loves his children and wants to bless us! I am so thankful for my heavenly father that desires to answer our prayers. So, take heart in that great truth we have in Jesus Christ.
